Uluu secures $2.1 million in federal funding to scale its seaweed-based plastic alternative

Perth startup Uluu has secured $2.1 million through the Industry Growth Program to supercharge its mission to replace plastic with seaweed.

Perth biotech startup Uluu has secured $2.1 million in grant funding through the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program to fast-track its commercial-scale production of plastic alternatives from seaweed. 

The new funding will help Uluu increase production of its innovative materials tenfold, from 100 kg per annum to one tonne per annum, by the middle of the year.

Then, by 2027, the startup plans to operate from a capacity plant that will allow it to produce 10 tonnes of materials per year.
