Teal MP Allegra Spender argues capital gains tax reform, and a major overhaul to the way family trusts are taxed, could encourage small business investment while making the tax system fairer for young Australians.

The Independent Member for Wentworth released her first tax white paper on Wednesday, offering what she called a budget-neutral proposal to balance the scales in Australia’s tax system.

In broad strokes, it argues working-age Australians shoulder too much of the tax burden through income tax, and that marginal tax rate cuts would benefit wage-earners.
