Amazon and Australia Post are bracing for the outcome of an emergency fuel order that could compel businesses to cover their truckies’ soaring fuel costs, after the parent company of Kmart, Bunnings, and Officeworks warned it could lift prices for consumers at the checkout.

As conflict in the Middle East sends diesel prices soaring, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) on Tuesday revealed plans for a new order ensuring transport operators on fixed-price contracts are not stuck with fuel bills they cannot afford.
