No small business exemption in Victoria’s work-from-home plan

The government will push for a blanket WFH right, irrespective of an employer’s size or sophistication, following consultation with workers and the business community.

The Victorian government will not carve small businesses out of its plan to legislate work-from-home rights for public and private sector workers, as Premier Jacinta Allan pushes a one-size-fits-all workplace policy.

Multiple outlets report small businesses will fall under the Allan Labor government’s plan to give employees the right to work remotely for two days a week, if their job can ‘reasonably’ be completed from home.

The Age states the state government originally considered a small business carve-out when announcing the plan last August.
