Fair Work enforces fuel cost order, forcing retailers and major clients to pay more for transport

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has formally enacted its emergency fuel cost order for the road transport industry, confirming a plan that will force businesses to cover rising fuel costs down the supply chain.

The Road Transport Contractual Chain Order – Fuel Cost Recovery – 2026 will come into effect on Wednesday April 21. 

As previously reported by SmartCompany, the FWC had provisionally backed a fast-tracked plan to lift contractual fuel reimbursements for transport operators, amid warnings that soaring diesel prices could push parts of the sector to breaking point.
